A Super History of Super Mario
By Nick Borrego

Donkey Kong
Mario first appeared in the original Donkey Kong arcade classic back in Nintendo's early video game days. You had to climb up the ladders and avoid objects Donkey Kong threw at you. Available under the name Donkey Kong Classics for the NES. You can also play a direct port of it on Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64 in the Frantic Factory level. You can also obtain it as a NES item in Animal Crossing for GameCube. Also available for the Game Boy Advance when the Donkey Kong E-Reader card is scanned (E-Reader required.)

Super Mario Bros.
This game was the 1st game for the NES, its also the biggest selling game of all time. A remake of it is available for the Game Boy Color under the name Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. A remake is also available on the SNES in Super Mario All-Stars.

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
Do you remember this game?  It's no wonder. It sucked. A remake is available on the SNES in Super Mario All-Stars.

Super Mario Bros. 2
Mario's 2nd big adventure also hit the NES. It introduced Toad, the mushroom guy. You could also play as Peach, which was weird because there was no point to the game besides making monsters' lives a living hell since there was no princess to save. A remake is available for the GameBoy Advance, under the name Super Mario Advance. A remake is also available for the SNES in the game Super Mario All-Stars.

Super Mario Bros. 3
Mario's 3rd adventure on the NES is the best on the system. You can't play as Peach or Toad, but its still good. A remake is available on the SNES in the game Super Mario All-Stars.

Super Mario World
Mario's 1st adventure on the Super Nintendo introduced Yoshi, a cute, green dinosaur. Like always, the object was to give Bowser a thrashing. A remake is available for the GameBoy Advance, under the name Super Mario Advance 2.

Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island
In this Super Nintendo game, you control Yoshi and must help a lost baby(Mario) find his brother Luigi. Travel tons of strange worlds in search of Luigi. A remake is available for the GameBoy Advance, under the name Super Mario Advance 3.

Mario Kart
This Super Nintendo racing game starring Mario started all those games out there like Mario Party and Mario Golf by introducing the fact that if it has Mario on it, people will buy it. Its actually a pretty good racing game too!

Super Mario All-Star
This Super Nintendo game was nothing but old Mario games from the NES remade for the Super Nintendo with spiced up graphics and the ability to save your games. It included Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 and The Lost Levels.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
This was the first ever Mario RPG. It's better than Paper Mario (don't get us wrong, Paper Mario is good too. Just not as good.) Made by Squaresoft for the Super Nintendo, you played as Mario and others originally trying to save the princess from Bowser, but then moving on to save the world with Bowser as an ally! It's one of my favorite Super Nintendo games of all time!

Super Mario 64
Mario's 1st adventure on the N64. Simply collect stars and try to save the princess from Bowser. The game is really fun and you'll fully enjoy Mario's frist adventure that's 100% 3D!

Paper Mario
This follow-up to Mario RPG was created by Intelligent Systems for the N64. However, as enjoyable as Paper Mario is, it just dosen't live up to the original which was done by Squaresoft.

Mario Kart 64
This N64 sequal is much better than the Super Nintendo original, and that's that!

Mario Golf
Mario and golf? As strange as it sounds, this game for the N64 was actually pretty good!

Mario Tennis
Now they come up with a N64 game putting Mario on a tennis court? Expect fun, but don't expect anything that comes close to tennis besides a ball and racket.

Mario Party
Play against 3 friends in a varity of very fun mini-games on the N64. Sounds fun? Yeah, I'd say so.

Mario Party 2
The sequal to Mario Party is much better than the first. Same concept, just more fun. For the N64.

Mario Party 3
This third installment on the N64... sucked! Period!

Super Smash Bros.
This fighting game on the N64 featured Mario and Luigi as playable characters, but wasn't an actual Mario game.

Luigi's Mansion
Luigi's Mansion for the GameCube is not quite the best title in the Mario series. Although its graphics are pretty good, the game lacks in gameplay and just dosen't cut it as a Mario title. You control Luigi and try to rid your mansion of unwanted ghosts that kidnapped Mario.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
This GameCube fighting game features Mario, Luigi, and Peach as playable characters although it really isn't a Mario game.

Super Mario Sunshine
This GameCube platformer is now available. Play as Mario who when taking a vacation on a tropical island called Isle Delfino when he is accused of trashing the island with toxic waste. He must clean up the mess and find the real culprit.

Super Mario Advance
A remake of Super Mario Bros. 2, how exciting(heavy sarcasm)! Can you guess which system this game is on? I'll give you a clue, Super Mario ADVANCE!

Super Mario Advance 2
A remake of Super Mario World, this one is much better than the original Mario Advance. This game is also on the ADVANCE!

Super Mario Advance 3
Now there's a remake of Yoshi's Island. Its pretty cool. Its on the Game Boy Advance, for those who couldn't figure it out themselves.

Super Mario Land
This adventure was the first Mario game to hit the Game Boy. Simply save the princess by completeing tons of levels. Fun, but poor graphics and no save feature.

Super Mario Land 2 - Six Golden Coins
This game was much better than the first and featured much better graphics and gameplay. It also had a save feature. It was released for the Game Boy.

Super Mario Land 3 - Wario Land
This Game Boy game introduced Wario, the evil incarnation of Mario. Play tons of levels trying to steal treasure and kidnap the Maple Princess. Its the best Wario game in my opinion.

Wario Land 2
Another Wario game for the Game Boy. This one sucked.

Wario Land 3
Yet another Wario game for the Game Boy Color. This one really sucked.

Wario Land 4
This Wario game for the Game Boy Advance was better than 2 and 3, but not as good as the original.

Mario Tennis GBC
Yes, they actually ported this N64 game to the Game Boy Color and it stunk.

Mario Golf GBC
This port of the N64 game on the Game Boy Color was actually better than the game it was trying to mimic. Featuring RPG elements, this game is actually worth checking out.

Mario Party 4
The 4th installment to the Mario Party series is now on the GameCube. Includes the loved gameplay from the previous Parties with improved graphics, many new mini-games, and new features.

Mario Golf GameCube
Nintendo is remaking Mario Golf for the GameCube with very enhanced graphics. Not many details are known yet.

Mario Tennis GameCube
Nintendo is also remaking mario tennis for the GameCube with enhanced graphics. Not many details are known yet.

Mario Paint
A game for the SNES where you could use the SNES mouse to paint with Mario. Its pretty cool.
